Passing furry

When I saw the ministerial nominees whose names were sent to the senate for confirmation, I felt terribly disappointed. Apart from Prince L O Fagbemi SAN who is a new name and had been an astute legal practitioner of note, most others are the same old politicians.
I do not know why we keep recycling politicians who have put us in democratic quagmire. Those who have no respect for the sovereignty of the people. Those who have no regards for party and democratic discipline. We reward indiscipline with political appointments. Why do we reward political insubordination with political appointments. When you see some of these people whose names have been submitted, you can see that some were ministers before. Some went to be governors and senators and then back to ministerial office.
In the mist of our current challenges must we keep recycling those who have been part and parcel of our current political woes. Most of these persons have demonstrated enough intolerable disdain for democratic growth that they should rest and allow other good Nigerians to work.
There is no renewed hope in some of these nominees. What new ideas are some of these old recycled hands bring on table to grow our democracy and democratize developments. Honestly while it’s the right of the govt to make appointments, it is not right to recycle people as done.
